A 2024 bill signing for the statewide prohibition of discriminatory occupancy limits in Colorado

The State of Colorado has identified housing as an issue of statewide concern. As such, a number of bills have been proposed in 2023–2024 to address the lack of housing and high housing costs. Boulder Progressives thinks that the city can be a leader in pushing for greater access to housing statewide and shaping policy that will benefit both Boulder and the state in the long term.*

What problem(s) does this proposal aim to solve?*

  • Statewide housing reforms aim to address key housing challenges in our communities that are not being addressed or are being insufficiently addressed.

  • The City of Boulder should support policies at the state level to produce better policy outcomes and increase the speed at which our communities can benefit from these changes.

Why is this proposal important to address as an immediate priority and how does this proposal further high-level City goals and plans?*

*Boulder Progressives was delighted with the success of most of these bills in 2024, and thankful for the support of the City of Boulder and many of our partner organizations. We will update this section with 2025 bills in the near future!
