  • Eric Budd

    Eric Budd (he/him)

    Eric is a co-founder of Boulder Progressives and Bedrooms Are For People. His passions are political organizing, campaign management, and digging into election data.

    Eric has worked on campaigns to overturn discriminatory occupancy laws, move Boulder's municipal elections to Even years, and for candidates at both the state and local level. He loves to spend time on his bike or taking photos, and living a car-free life in Boulder with his family.

  • Sean Haney (he/him)

    Sean joined Boulder Progressives after discovering a passion for local politics and advocating for creating more livable, human-centered cities and neighborhoods.

    Sean enjoys living in a neighborhood that's walking distance to grocery stores, coffee shops, and the Goose Creek path - and wants more people to be able to enjoy the same convenience. He can often be found at Valmont Dog Park with his rambunctious one-year-old pup.

  • Claudia Hanson Thiem

    Claudia Hanson Thiem (she/her)

    Claudia is a recovering urban geographer, parent, political strategist and organizer-at-large, and member of Boulder’s Planning Board. She loves places that bring neighbors together, policies that support inclusion, and people who can imagine a better world. 

    “If we could fix the problems, there would be more time for climbing and gardening, and wouldn’t that be great?”

  • Jane Hummer

    Jane Hummer (she/her)

    Jane is a clean energy consultant, data scientist, pollster, writer, caregiver, server assistant, and dog mom living car-free in north-central Boulder.

    Jane’s priorities are advancing climate action and social justice through progressive transportation, energy, land use, and housing policies. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting, quoting 90s sitcoms, and quibbling with strangers on the internet.

  • Mike Mills (he/him)

    Mike has been a fervent advocate for sustainable transportation and human rights since moving to Boulder in 1990. Retiring in 2023 after a distinguished career in atmospheric chemistry and global climate modeling, he now dedicates his efforts full-time to local change. 

    Mike is an active member of the Community Cycles Advocacy Committee, where he works on securing protected bike lanes and enhancing transportation options for those outside of cars. In March 2024, he was appointed to Boulder's Transportation Advisory Board, where he is working with city staff to make Boulder more inclusive and environmentally resilient.

    Mike is a staunch champion for transportation, housing, climate action, and LGBTQ rights, committed to fostering a just and equitable community for all.

  • Lisa Sweeney-Miran

    Lisa Sweeney-Miran (she/her)

    Lisa is the CEO of Haven Ridge homeless shelters and the former Vice President of the Boulder Valley School District Board of Education. Her advocacy is focused on homelessness, policing, housing, and cities that are safe for walking & cycling.

    Lisa grew up here in Boulder and is now raising her children here as well. Over the past four decades Lisa has worked on various campaigns, served on several city and nonprofits boards, and volunteered for many nonprofit organizations.

    Lisa is passionate about making her hometown a place that is more welcoming and inclusive for all.

  • Dan Williams

    Dan Williams (he/him)

    Dan is an attorney, a former candidate for Boulder City Council, a homeless advocate, and a champion for civil rights and justice. Dan is thrilled to be a part of Boulder Progressives because it so closely aligns with his vision for Boulder.

  • Jed Brown (he/him)

    Jed is an associate professor at CU Boulder developing fast algorithms, reliable software, and healthy open-source communities for computational science, with applications from materials to earth systems. He is active in open science and organizing within the university and professional organizations.

    Jed grew up in Alaska and has lived in Canada, Switzerland, and Chicago before moving to Boulder in 2013 for the research environment and outdoor access. He is excited to join Boulder Progressives to work toward a more inclusive, vibrant, and creative community with the courage to lead and the commitment to deliver on its ideals for everyone.

  • Chelsea Castellano

    Chelsea Castellano (she/her)

    Chelsea currently serves as the Colorado Program Director at America Votes, where her work is focused on advancing progressive policies, candidates, and protecting every Coloradan's right to vote. Prior to her work at America votes, she spent eight years developing climate policy and programming at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Chelsea co-led Bedrooms Are For People, an organization that aims to reform Boulder’s exclusionary housing laws and make it legal for all people to share housing. 

    Chelsea also co-led the People for Voter Turnout ballot initiative campaign in 2022, which successfully moved Boulder’s off-cycle elections to even years in order to increase voter turnout and promote equal representation in local elections. Chelsea grew up in NJ, is an avid (albeit not talented) pickleball player, and enjoys concerts, coffee, and paddleboarding on high alpine lakes.

  • Hannah Davis

    Hannah Davis (she/her)

    Hannah’s passion and professional work have been at the intersection of climate and community. She currently sits on Boulder’s Environmental Advisory Board and does consulting for organizations like The Nature Conservancy and Soil Carbon Solutions Center. 

    In 2023, Hannah was the Campaign Manager for Ryan Schuchard's successful election to Boulder City Council.  Hannah co-founded ClimateRaise, a volunteer-led organization that connects active investors with the leading women-led climate tech startups. She was the Program Director for Techstars Sustainability Accelerator in partnership with The Nature Conservancy for three years before she took some time for new parent leave.

  • Kristen Eller

    Kristen Eller (she/her)

    Kristen is an activist, runner, and scientist from Colorado. She grew up in Colorado Springs and returned to CO to receive her PhD from CU Boulder and didn't want to leave. In her free time she enjoys running with her dogs or playing board games with her partner.

  • Mary Faltynski

    Mary Faltynski (she/her)

    Mary is a public health nurse who runs a flagship program for low-income pregnant teens across the county. She has been engaged in national and local politics for nearly four decades.

    “I joined Boulder Progressives because we have the ability to have a community that is healthy and full of promise for all; we just need the political will. Boulder holds an outsized role in the American imagination as a liberal powerhouse; we can't watch it succumb to fear, NIMBYism, and stagnation.”

  • Adrian Fine

    Adrian Fine (he/him)

    Adrian is excited to have joined the Boulder Progressives because great communities like Boulder are places full of opportunity which should be shared. 

    Adrian grew up in Palo Alto, California - a city which shares many of the great things about Boulder and many of the same challenges. Adrian served as chair of Palo Alto’s planning and transportation commission and as Mayor, where he focused on sustainable housing, transportation, and public finance. He moved to Boulder in 2021, and professionally, works in technology trust and safety. He lives in the Holiday neighborhood with his 3 year old son.

  • Rosie Fivian

    Rosie Fivian (she/her)

    Rosie is a Colorado architect and a new member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). She has also served as an election judge in Boulder County.

    Rosie loves traveling by foot and e-bike and the adventures she has with her husband and border collie. Rosie looks forward to seeing Boulder become an even better place than it currently is.

  • Mursal K (she/her)

    Mursal is a 16-year-old human rights advocate who recently came to the US from Afghanistan.

    Mursal is determined to make the world a better place by standing up for human rights and by spreading the transformative power of knowledge and education.

  • Ariel Kalishman Walsh

    Ariel Kalishman Walsh (she/her)

    Ariel is a renewable energy professional dedicated to driving equitable change through the current energy transition from carbon-fuel to clean renewable electricity. Currently, Ariel works at Solstice, collaborating with community solar developers and asset owners to bring affordable clean energy to renters, home owners, business people, schools, cities and others who cannot install solar on their buildings. She has a passion for advancing clean energy solutions and community-driven initiatives.

    Before joining Solstice, Ariel worked at BlocPower, bringing building decarbonization services and products to utilities and cities. In this role, she worked at the intersection of sustainability, technology, and development. Ariel’s professional journey has been characterized by impactful roles spanning various industries, each driven by a commitment to creating a positive environmental footprint. She has an MBA in Sustainability from Bard College and a BA from the University of Texas at Austin and lives in Lafayette, CO with her children, husband, dog, chickens and an incredibly unruly garden.

  • Brian Keegan

    Brian Keegan (he/him)

    Brian is a computational social scientist and assistant professor of information science at the University of Colorado Boulder. He likes to use open and public data to understand the behavior shaping local policy and politics.

    Brian is inspired by the experience and commitment of other Boulder Progressives to make Boulder a more just, inclusive, and sustainable community. Brian has lived in North Boulder since 2016 and previously lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Evanston, Illinois, and Henderson, Nevada.

  • Alexandar Liguori-Schremp (he/they)

    Despite being relatively new to Colorado, having moved to the Boulder area just a couple of years ago, Alexandar feels that he has found home here!

    They are a nonbinary transman, a professional physicist, an avid athlete, and an activist for nonbinary/trans athletes.

    Besides social issues focusing mainly on LGBTQIA+ rights, Alek’s passions include trail running, rock climbing, sailing, and singing (they are a Baritone within DGMC).

  • Katie Malzbender (she/her)

    Born and raised in Boulder, Katie has spent her career working for progressive nonprofits advocating for climate solutions, reproductive rights, gender justice, and immigrants' rights. Katie has been involved in Boulder County Democratic politics for the last decade, and she wants to see Boulder live up to its ideals as a vibrant, diverse, welcoming community.

    When she's not trying to solve the world's problems, Katie can be found singing with Cantabile, watching British murder shows with her dog, Bartlet, and trying (sometimes unsuccessfully) not to fall off of horses. 

  • Kieran Murphy (he/him)

    Kieran is an impact-driven communications specialist whose work spans the private, non-profit, and public sectors. He cares deeply about environmental protections, healthcare and housing affordability issues, and progressive causes more broadly.

    A lifelong Coloradan, Kieran is a proud graduate of the University of Colorado, and has called Boulder home since 2019. Since graduating, he's worked in marketing for a wide range of outdoor industry brands. He helps lead efforts to streamline climate venture capital investment by engaging climate non-profits and outdoor industry stakeholders in the process, and held communications and operations responsibilities on the Harris for President campaign in 2024. 

    Kieran is passionate about advancing progressive politics, cheering for Colorado sports teams, and coaching the next generation of big mountain skiers on the weekends.

  • Kurt Nordback

    Kurt Nordback (he/him)

    Kurt grew up in Boulder, attending BVSD schools and the University of Colorado. After spending a decade in other parts of the world, he boomeranged back to Boulder to be near family and in the town he loves.

    Kurt is an engineer creating open-source, corporate-free software. He found the West Pearl community space to be one of the silver linings of the Covid-19 pandemic, and is excited to restore an even better version.

  • Jamillah Richmond (she/her/ella)

    Jamillah Richmond is a dedicated activist, advocate, and scholar deeply committed to fostering inclusive environments, supporting student success, and advancing justice across civil rights, human rights, housing, wages, environmental sustainability, and trauma-informed practices. 

    With a strong background in education and community engagement, Jamillah has developed impactful programs and initiatives that empower minoritized communities, focusing on equity, access, and social and economic justice. Currently pursuing her doctorate, her research explores education, diversity, equity, inclusion, abolition, and Indigenous methodologies. 

    Jamillah’s expertise in leadership, program development, and advocacy reflects her unwavering dedication to driving policies and structural shifts that advance systemic change. Her work is rooted in community empowerment, creating opportunities for growth and learning, and building bridges to foster transformative, equitable outcomes.

  • Michelle Solomon

    Michelle Solomon (she/her)

    “I am so excited to be a member of the Boulder Progressives Board! I moved to Boulder six years ago for graduate school at CU Boulder studying Environmental Engineering, and currently work at an environmental consulting firm in town remediating contamination issues. I am passionate about solving complex issues such as climate change, housing affordability, homelessness, and transportation access, and I believe that by connecting as a community, we can work towards better outcomes for those who need it most.”

  • Alex Weinheimer (he/him)

    Alex grew up in Boulder, running on trails, dining out downtown, and reading by the creek - all things he continues to enjoy today. He is a transportation planning consultant who helps create more livable cities through improved walking, bicycling, and transit options.

    During Alex’s recent five-year term on the city's Transportation Advisory Board, he crafted the vision for the Core Arterial Network, which is speeding up the implementation of protected bike lanes and improved transit service. He is excited to work with Boulder Progressives to create a more inclusive and accessible community.
