The 2023 Ballot Issues

  • VOTE YES on 1A & 1B - Affordable Housing & Open Space Tax Extensions (County initiated)

Affordable housing allows more people to live where they work, and to invest in our community. Open space allows more people to relax and recreate where they live. and to participate in healthy, engaged, connected communities. Together these taxes support the ideal Boulder for us all.

  • VOTE YES on 2A - City Sales and Use Tax Extension (City of Boulder initiated)

Human Services and the Arts make up the fabric of the human experience. Support housing, homeless services, fire & rescue, and emergency services with a “yes” vote. A “yes” vote also supports invaluable arts programming, arts education, and innovation grants across our city.

  • VOTE NO on 302 - "Safe Zones 4 Kids" (citizen initiated)

“Safe Zones 4 Kids” is a poorly thought through measure written by people with no experience in governance that harms the very effort it seeks to aid. Let’s work together for real solutions, not harmful measures like “Safe Zones” that have good intentions but dangerous and harmful effects.

YES on 2A

Support Human Services and The Arts

Human Services are the backbone of our city. Homeless services, housing, fire & rescue, and emergency services are a few of the important areas that will receive funding from this city tax. Human Service funding puts people first.

Boulder funds the Arts at lower rates than most of our neighboring cities, and now is the time to reinvest in the vibrant and engaging landscape that arts programming brings to Boulder.

YES on 1A & 1B

Support Affordable Housing and Open Space

Affordable housing is key to an inclusive, equitable, welcoming Boulder. We must do more inside of our city to ensure access to affordable housing, and we must support initiatives in Boulder County and in neighboring cities that work towards that same goal.

Boulder area open space is one of the biggest draws for people who move to our area and one of the strongest reasons given by people for why they stay. Open space allows for recreation, exercise, family time, photography, and time spent engaging in restorative and rejuvenating care for people across our city and county.

For a beautiful, inclusive community, vote YES on 1A & 1B.

NO on 302

Safe Cities Prioritize People

“Safe Zones 4 Kids” is a poorly thought through measure written by people with no experience in governance that harms the very effort it seeks to aid.

By calling for “prioritized enforcement” within 50 feet of every sidewalk in the entire city, the measure de-prioritizes areas near schools, which are currently at the top of the prioritization list. It’s for this reason that leaders city-wide aren’t supporting this measure, they know it will make the work harder and slower.

Our city staff and police department is doing exactly what we have asked of them, but without services for people in need they cannot make progress. This measure only makes their job harder and more ineffective. They need our help. Boulder needs our vote.

Let’s work together for real solutions, not harmful measures like “Safe Zones” that have dangerous and harmful effects.

We need safe cities, not safe zones. Vote NO on 302.
