Nonprofit Donation Guide
Dear Friends,
While much about what is to come is unknown at this point, what we know for sure is that nonprofit organizations across this country will be instrumental in fighting for our freedom, our safety, and our families over the next four years.
We have put together a list of some of our favorite local nonprofits who will be working to stand up for our rights: to provide shelter to people fleeing to Colorado and looking for safety, to provide abortions and abortion access to anyone in need, to stand up for our civil rights, and the rights of our immigrant populations, to protect and advance our LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, even in the face of hatred and othering, and to ensure that democracy will not die in the dark.
If you are looking for a way to help, if you are ready to start fighting back and standing up for your values and your neighbors, you can start today by supporting these incredible local nonprofit organizations today.
Please use this guide today, share it with your friends, and bookmark it on our website for future use.

Homeless Shelters & Outreach: These three organizations all provide shelter, case management, and look for long-term solutions for homelessness - as vulnerable people flee to the safety of Colorado and Trump enacts huge funding cuts to HUD, these organizations need more help than ever before. Bridge House specializes in adult work & job training programs, Haven Ridge focuses on women, children, and transgender adults, and TGTHR works with homeless youth. (note for transparency: the CEO of Haven Ridge is a member of our board)
Abortion Access: Abortion access is more important than ever before. We’re sure you know about the incredible work that Planned Parenthood has been doing for decades. Cobalt is an organization that helps people nationwide to fund abortion care and to find abortion providers. Here locally Boulder Valley Health Center provides abortions and other reproductive health services. In a climate where this work can be dangerous, we are so grateful to people who stand up for what’s right and are there to help, no matter what.
Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains
Civil Rights & Immigration: The constitution, and people who fight to uphold it, is what stands between us and a full authoritarian takeover. The ACLU fought for us throughout the first Trump presidency and they will keep fighting. We know that our immigrant population has suffered unimaginable horrors and is at the top of Trump’s list for new attacks - the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition and the Immigrant Legal Resource Center are here to fight back.

Racial Justice: We are thankful here in Boulder to have both NAACP Boulder county and El Centro Amistad - these two brave, bold leaders on racial justice, equality, and freedom are working tirelessly to advocate for change and for a better Boulder county.
LGBTQIA+ Advocacy: We are incredibly lucky to have Rocky Mountain Equality (formerly Out Boulder) here. The work RMEQ does in advocacy & education is a gold-standard nationwide, and we know that as more people flee to Colorado for safety organizations like RMEQ will be central.
Domestic Violence, Intimate Partner Violence, and Gun Violence Prevention: Safehouse Progressive Alliance Network (SPAN) has been doing incredible shelter & advocacy work in our Boulder community for decades, Violence Free Colorado is a statewide anti-violence advocacy org, and Everytown is a national organization that works in gun violence prevention and education and that includes our local chapters of Mom’s Demand Action.

Climate: These three organizations will fight for our children’s future, so that we offer our children, our grandchildren, and our great-grandchildren a planet that they can live on, cities they can thrive in, and air they can breathe.
Public Education: Public education is how we ensure that the next generation is ready, able, and willing to lead. Impact on Education supports the needs of the Boulder Valley School District, particularly those students who are at highest risk or who have access to the fewest resources.
Family Support Networks: Families on the poverty line are often left behind - these organizations are working to connect people to food, resources, housing, healthcare, and education so that all children growing up in Colorado have access to opportunity.

Journalism: We will be sending out a newsletter in the next weeks about the importance of independent journalism at this time, highlighting dozens of incredible local and national organizations that are refusing to let democracy die in the dark. Independent journalism is the only thing keeping our leaders and our institutions accountable. For today we are highlighting four independent organizations that are all doing local, nonprofit journalism, there are many other incredible orgs in this space that we will discuss later this month.

Of course, this is not a comprehensive list of all local nonprofits, this is a set of our 2-3 favorites in each space but there are many others who are also doing incredible work. Did we miss one of the organizations you have at the top of your list? Let us know so we can catch it next time!
